The world´s first fleet of commercial autonomous exploration vessels -Proudly powered within Power House´s new Hybrid Power Portfolio!

Power House, in our role as Volvo Penta global genset outlet, have had the confidence to ensure a suitable delivery with an additional element of flexibility to fit the Volvo Penta engines with the Danfoss Editron generators. We deliver to shipyard Grovfjord Mek Verkstad in Norway who is to build the oceanography company Ocean Infinity´s new fleet of super advanced unmanned exploration vessels. The fleet will be made up of two sizes of vessels, both of which will be 100% diesel electric.

The first four vessels in the Armada fleet are due to be delivered to Ocean Infinity in 2021, with the remaining robots completed in the next months.

Fully hybrid-electric power
The Volvo Penta D8 MH variable speed engine will power the generator sets onboard and Danfoss Editron will provide the energy management system and propulsion control for each vessel. This all-new D8 engine is a perfect match for the autonomous vessels due to its compact size and high power to weight ratio. Additionally, the engine’s low fuel consumption plays a big role in the significant CO2 reduction.
